The circles of Trieste and Pordenone have submitted to various editors of local newspapers and the following statement on the case Eluana.
We publish here (because we had no evidence, or so it seems ...):
E’ di domenica 16/11 un’ intervista di Laura Tonero per il quotidiano Il Piccolo al giovane triestino Leonardo Riccioli remained in a coma for almost two months. We thank the young man of sensitivity shown in not morally judge the father of Eluana, we are happy of the success of his misfortune, but we would like to point out that the girl is not in a coma. Eluana is in a vegetative state (SV) Permanente, a condition that develops after a period of coma and is characterized by the absence of any interaction with the environment. They are not, alas, given cases of awakening from SV learning (as distinct from persistent). The comparison Riccioli-Englaro seems so out of place and I regret to note that these issues printing slides in major errors that often end up avoiding the sad reality and fuel the controversy carried on very heavy noise from the fringes more fundamentalist Catholic.
very regrettable to see every day unhappy exits of local political figures and not, as a result of the much-discussed acuitesi Court of Cassation. Welfare Undersecretary E. Rocella, for example, declares that 'and' absurd to talk of 'certainty of irreversibility in the vegetative state " thus demonstrating that they did not understand that the crux is not to verify the reversibility or not, but a person's right to decide for same law, reaffirmed by the infamous sentence.
That said, expressing disappointment at the recent utterances of the HSC and, locally, for those Kozica councilor, while we appreciate the girl's father for the dignity shown throughout this long painful story and we respect their choices and the pain, and appreciate those who, in regional policy, recalled how the issue is a sad fact that the private is better not to mount political cases.
